Ready for the next level of Canoeing!

At this 12 hr course (Sat eve/all day Sund.) you will learn how to negotiate currents, moving water maneuvers and canoe carving.
We will commence with some still water skills, then introduce current strategies & skills and finally end with a river run.
Emphasis is placed on understanding the principles of carving, lateral movement, reading water and risk management.

 

Clinic Details

Saturday evening we will review prerequisite of lake water skills including carving & “arc” control.
Sunday includes basic moving water skills and move, plus a short river run on the Nechako River.

 

Meeting Time

4pm Aug 13 – Berman Lake.
9am Aug 14 – Cottonwood Island Park

Price Includes

What to Bring

  • Own canoe are welcomed
  • Extra clothes, program includes canoe rescue.
  • Aqua shoes/Soft footwear
  • Snack and water.
  • Bug dope
Prerequisites

Must at least:
Twenty tripping hours paddling experience – day trips or overnighters; including both bow and stern.
Recommended:
Intro to Lake or canoe basics certified course (the ability to control the canoe on flat water without changing sides).
Bring own canoe.
