Ready for the next level of Canoeing!

At this 12 hr course you will learn how to negotiate currents, moving water maneuvers and canoe carving.
We will commence with some still water skills, then introduce current strategies & skills and finally end with a river run.
Emphasis is placed on understanding the principles of carving, lateral movement, reading water and risk management.

 

Clinic Details

First we will review prerequisite of lake water skills including carving & “arc” control, followed by basic moving water skills and move, plus a short river run on the Nechako River.

What to Bring

  • Own canoe is encouraged
  • Extra clothes, program includes canoe rescue.
  • Aqua shoes/Soft footwear
  • Snack and water.

Prerequisites

Must at least:
Some paddling experience – day trips or overnighters; including both bow and stern.
Recommended:
Have taken Intro to Lake or canoe basics certified course (ability to control the canoe on flat water without changing sides).
Own canoe is welcomed.

  1. To register use the “proceed Booking” icon.
  2. “Addition Notes” please let us know if you bringing your own canoe.
  3. After register your name(s) make payment: either e-transfer or Paypal to backwater@hotmail.ca
  4. If after 12 hours payment is not received your booking will be removed.
  5. Once payment received, few days prior, confirmation and class details will be sent to you.
  6. Transfer fee is $20 and no refunds within 72 hours of class.
