NEW WOOD PADDLES

Finely crafted sea paddles now available in Prince George. Wood paddles offer a natural flex and softness that is easy on the body and hands; smooth profile allows for a quiet paddle.
Paddles are hand crafted by Bending Branches, Wisconsin. All BB paddle tips have a “Rockgaurd” protection; a technology derived from the same material as inline skates. This integrity of the paddle seals against moisture and impacts, to the most vulnerable area – tip and edges. Kayak paddles come with composite ferrule system that will not corrode or seize up.

BB have many combinations of straight/ergonomic shafts, straight/bent blades, wood/carbon fiber shafts, T/palm grips just to name a few. Backwater Paddling has a few selected styles and sizes in stock:

Finding your paddle length:

The old tradition paddle measurement is the paddle tip reaching up to your chin; however when sitting down in a canoe, your leg length is irrelevant to the paddle length. To find the length for you; sitting on a chair, measure (between legs) the distance from the seat surface to your nose. Use following numbers to convert this measurement to your paddle length.

Torso Height=Paddle Length/bent shaft:
26″ = 52/48″
28″= 54/50″
30″= 56/52″
32″ = 58/54″
34″ = 60/56″
36″ = 62/58″
